How Investigators Determine Fault in a Two-Vehicle Crash in Murfreesboro, TN
Investigators typically rely on physical evidence, witness accounts, and vehicle data to piece together how a two-vehicle crash unfolded. Skid marks, vehicle damage patterns, and the final resting positions of both vehicles can all offer clues about speed and direction at the moment of impact.
Tennessee follows a modified comparative fault rule, which means an injured driver can recover compensation as long as they are not found 50 percent or more responsible for the crash.
In a collision between a car and a truck, size and weight differences can sometimes complicate the fault analysis, especially when it comes to visibility or stopping distance.
Investigations can take time, so injured drivers sometimes face delays before fault is officially determined. Insurance companies may attempt to assign blame before a full report is completed, which can put an injured person at a disadvantage early on.
A Murfreesboro car accident lawyer can help review the investigation once it’s complete and make sure fault is fairly represented in any insurance discussion.
