Injuries in Crash on Carthage Hwy in Wilson Co., TN

Wilson County, TN (July 16, 2026) – Multiple people were hurt on Tuesday afternoon, July 14, in a wreck on Carthage Highway near the 1325 block.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said the roadway was shut down for several hours as emergency units worked the scene. Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes, including Rome Pike, while crews cleared the area.

The road reopened by 5:53 p.m. No details on the extent of their injuries were released. However, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

We are thinking of everyone affected as they begin to recover.

Why Do Rural Tennessee Highways Pose Unique Crash Risks?Injuries Reported in Crash on Carthage Hwy

Roads such as Carthage Highway carry a mix of local and through traffic connecting Wilson County, TN to nearby routes such as Rome Pike and Highway 70, corridors that see higher speeds and fewer traffic controls than city streets.

It is important to know as a victim that if a lengthy closure follows your crash, it can signal a serious impact requiring extensive scene documentation, which is what can later become important evidence in a personal injury claim.

Rural highway crashes can also involve delayed emergency response times compared to more urban areas, which may affect both medical outcomes and how the crash is later reconstructed for legal purposes.

Tennessee follows a modified comparative fault rule, in which an injured person can still recover damages as long as they are found less than 50 percent responsible for the crash, though their compensation is reduced by their share of fault.

Fault determinations can significantly affect the outcome of a claim, which is why it can be especially important to preserve evidence from the scene, including photos, the official crash report, and any available witness accounts. This can be crucial on rural highways, since there are fewer cameras or businesses nearby to capture what happened.

Injuries from highway crashes can range from fractures to more serious trauma depending on the speed and force involved, and medical documentation created soon after a crash commonly plays a central role later when insurance companies evaluate a claim.

With this documentation, a car accident lawyer can step in to create a strong claim with early and organized evidence.
