Wilson Co., TN – I-840 Closed After Multiple Crashes Cause Serious Injuries

Wilson Co., TN (December 18, 2025) – On Wednesday morning, December 17, at 7:00 a.m., a portion of Interstate 840 in Wilson County near the Stewarts Ferry exit (mile marker 70) was shut down following at least two separate crashes that resulted in serious injuries.

According to reports from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, the incidents involved serious injuries, though the exact number of victims and vehicles involved has not yet been released. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist the injured and secure the roadway.

Due to the severity of the crashes, traffic was diverted at the Stewarts Ferry exit, causing significant delays during the morning commute. The affected section of the interstate remained closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation. The roadway was fully reopened at approximately 9:45 a.m.

Officials have not provided additional details, and the cause of the crashes remains under investigation. We extend our thoughts to those injured and hope for their full recovery.

Compensation After Car Accidents in Wilson County

Serious motor vehicle accidents can have lasting physical, emotional, and financial effects on victims and their families. Injured individuals may face extensive medical treatment, hospitalization, rehabilitation, and time away from work, all of which can create significant financial strain. In Tennessee, victims injured due to another party’s negligence may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses.

Medical expenses often represent the largest burden following a serious crash. These costs may include emergency care, ambulance transport, hospital stays, surgeries, diagnostic testing, medications, physical therapy, and future medical needs related to long-term or permanent injuries. Proper documentation of all medical treatment is essential when pursuing a personal injury claim.

Lost income is another major concern. Injuries may prevent victims from returning to work for weeks or months, and in some cases, they may be unable to resume their previous employment at all. Compensation may address both temporary lost wages and reduced future earning capacity.

Beyond financial losses, accident victims may experience pain, emotional distress, anxiety, or trauma following a serious crash. These non-economic damages can significantly impact quality of life and may also be recoverable under Tennessee law.

Navigating a personal injury claim after a serious accident can be complex. A skilful auto accident lawyer can help investigate the crash, handle insurance negotiations, and pursue full and fair compensation.
